Does Java chat rooms use MB's from your ADSL Cap?

hey there,im trying to find out whether chatting online using java software uses the megabytes on your ADSL cap limit.Im under the impression that it is impossible because you are not downloading information you are uploading.Im i right or am i confused? Pls get back to me as soon as possible!!!

Of course it is using the cap limit - you do receive text from other users, don't you
The size of text is negligible though - hours of chatting will probably yield less then a megabyte of data. Downloading the Java app itself and the possible ad banners consume more bandwidth though.
