    Doom III

I watched the vid clips Papa posted and checked out the screenshots...and I am simply floored by what this game is going to be like when it is completed...so, I decided to start ordering the parts for my new gaming system...my only hesitation was that I wanted to wait for the next gen vid cards to come out, but I'll buy something at the top of the heap for now (so I can play BF: Vietnam and stuff...and when the new cards come out...I'll upgrade to one of them and put the card I buy now in another one of my rigs...

And I just got a bonus at work, so I might even have to go with a dual-processor rig, just for the hell of it...

Thanks for the awesome screenshots and the clips Papa...

u fools bickering over doom 3
hell u dont need a freakin 10 ghz system with a radeon to play this stuff.i make it work real decent on a geforce 4 mx 420 and even make videos .too bad i cant post them enywhere.anyways when the game comes out ( like in the next decade or so) im sure most ppl with a 64 mb 3d card will be able to run this game at at least 640*480

Glad you liked them lowman - dunno how I missed your post when you first made it though. Ahem, ibbu - just because it'll run at 640x480 that doesn't mean it works real decent. Besides, everyone has their own idea of what acceptable performance is. Some of us here are really spoiled and what one person might consider good performance we would consider unplayable. I know I'm spoiled :) 30-45 fps on a First Person Shooter just isn't acceptable to me.

    miaow

hey papa.... yea ur right people have different views on what acceptable is.but i think running an alpha version of a system resource hungry game at 640*480 at 45 fps is good enough for me..

p.s- the mx 420 sux......im saving up for that monster fx 6800 ...

btw i made some adjustments in my doomconfig file yesterday and the frame rates went up by almost 60 freakin percent!!!
if anyone wants the file i have, just reply to this message.ill gladly mail it to u.

Oh, that's gonna look just sweet on a machine with a better graphics card.

Like, of course, we will all be buying when this comes out.

You remember Quake II? Everyone went out to get new hardware (first gen graphics accelerators) just to play it.

But hey, it was worth it.

Sorry - I don't remember the file info - I deleted it long ago and am now waiting for the game to go on sale... :( Sorry I can't help you out with this, though the whole exe thing sounded kinda scary if I understood what I think you were trying to say.

    hey Ollie30001

yea u downloaded the right file.actually the file is not an exe.there are two versions of the alpha on kazaa .one is named doom_iii.rar and the other is named sumthing like doom3.e3-demo-alpha-leak.rar .so once u download the file open it up with winRAR (this is a program) get it from

    http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

using this program extract the file u downloaded to any new directory.then go run the game.i recommend u download a patch for doom 3 from kazaa.just search for "doom patch" and ull get it.apply the patch.then ur ready to go.
for more help on how to run the game go to http://www.geocities.com/ladoom3helpla/config.htm

    Slow!

My Doom III is only running at 3-5 fps, peaking at 7 occasionally on my laptop.

    I've got:

    2.2Ghz mobile M processor
    512MB laptop RAM
40gig HD which is about 20gigs full

i'm getting the doom iii slideshow! ;)

I'm gonna guess here since you didn't fill in your video card in your profile, but I would say it's your video card.

I'll have to side with Papa, assuming your laptop has a GF4Go or maybe ATI 9000 Mobile then I really doubt it will ever run DOOMIII smoothly.

I've just got a generic Toshiba video card. Does anybody have a config file for a slightly lower end comp? I highly doubt I can put a new vid card in this thing, and I just bought a new PC (server, not gaming) so I can't get a new computer...:dead:
