Yep, used it many years ago on a drive that had bad sectors, it worked. It says it remagnitizes the bad sectors, not sure exactly how well that works or for how long. But I know that it fixed the bad sectors I had and I never had anymore problems.

The problem is that its really only going to fix bad sectors on an otherwise healthy drive, if the drive is starting to fail its not going to magically fix the drive. Confirm with one of the diagnostic utils (I prefer SeaTools) and make sure it passes all the tests.

Is there new Fujitsu software yet?

My troublesome SATA laptop drive is in need of it, as the listed one not only is IDE-only, but can no longer be found on Fujitsu's own site.

Oh, and as of MaxBlast 5, Powermax is either gone, or only works on its own drives. Powermax on Maxblast 4, of course, doesn't work on many SATA drive configurations.

Please does anyone know anything that can be done to a crashed drive that refuses to initialized from disk management utility?

delete all drives by partition manager.
then mount the drives again by testdisk (its free).

    RE:

    Try this:
Go to >> Start - Administrative Tools - Computer Management
    - Storage - Disk Management

Otherwise, you need to format whole drives which may results in loss of all your important data. For that, you can switch to data recovery software which is helpful in case of recovering the lost or deleted data from the hard drive, Flash drive, USB etc.

let me know if you want some more information about it.
