The wnaspi32.dll file is a 32-bit dll that provides device driver support for various CD/DVD burner drives. This dll is part of the Nero Burning ROM software.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Nero?

Maybe try some different burning software.

Regards Howard :)

You said starting to give you problems!
Has anything changed since it was working right?(new media , software, etc.) If yes post it.
Your Sony is installed as the Slave on the IDE channel if I read that right.
If so I would make it the Master . I find DVD writer's are much more fisnickity.
Also you only have 150 mb of free virtual memory , that's a little light when it comes to burning DVD's , so you should make sure all unneccessary prgrams and processes are off, slow the write speed down .
Turn off autorun , and also test a burn with DMA off on that IDE channel.
Let us know if these work , if not there are other things to try.

dvd burner problems

hey thanks for responding so quickly! I tried to reinstall nero but that didn't fix the problem...as for making the dvd burner the master, I'm not sure how to do that...but would that make the burner stop working all of the sudden? I haven't gotten any new software, all I've done is change the sockets I plug it into lol...It says there's a reading error or something, but this has never happend before! Is it possible it has just been used too many times and is dead?

burner problems

Yes, I probably should have mentioned this, but it is an external dvd burner from Sony. All I have done is unplug the burner from the wall and put it into another socket...I don't think that should make a difference right?

That does make a difference. The power socket would not affect a burn unless you lost power.
Forget about master and slave settings because this is probaly USB connection right?

I don't think so since your error got so far down the road .
Starting with the things to try in my first thread. What have you done?
Many things can affect a burn, you have to troubleShoot. Since you reloaded Nero you have to check infotool for a good ASPI layer (system and ,Nero's)
Since this is a USB take it to a friend/Techshop that has burning software and see if it can burn there.
Then post any errors/suceess etc.

Hey, I tried hooking the Sony dvd burner up to a friend's computer and it wouldn't even recognize that it was connected. I also tried updating the firmware, but that still did not fix the problem. any ideas??

Im having the same problem with my Sony 710UL. Once I lost the drive, and reinstalled it. It went from an E drive to an F drive. Now, it has just quit working all together. When I troubleshoot, it says the device is there and working properly. If you unplug the drive from the computer, it recognizes that the drive has been disconnected. When the drive is empty it is listed as: F: DVD-RW drive. and if something is holding to be burned, it will ask you if you want to burn it. But when you put a DVD in to burn, it turns to a CD drive~~ F: CD drive. This whole problem started by it only burning part of a disk and I would get a message similar to the one the guy above got. Now it won't work at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times, and deleted all Nero programs. Any ideas?

Welcome to TechSpot cuttjr

Have you tried uninstalling the drive using Device Manager?

In Device Manager, select "Show hidden devices" from View menu, then remove all instances of the drive in DVD/CD-ROM drives.

Reboot and the drive should be detected automatically again.

Thanks for the response. When I did that, it was uninstalled and was not listed on the control panel. When I restarted the computer, it was there again. But it did not detect and ask to install, it was just there. It was listed as a DVD-RW drive, but again when I put a blank DVD in it tured to a CD drive. My feeling is that it is a confusion in the computer and not a hardware problem.

We have seen this with the various types of USB drives.
I frimly believe a part of the problem is the existing drive letter configuration before a usb is attached.Windows pushes drive letters around in a strange manner.
Anyway I have always had success by moving my Fixed Rom drives to the end of the Alphabet." R-W" you do this in Right click My computer>Manage>Disk manager.
This eliminates conflict with swapable USB drives.
Check the web site for your USB Drive for drivers/USB manager software.

dvd burner problems

hey guys, i tried reinstalling the device driver and that still did not work... i keep getting the error message:
#25 TRANSFER -25 File Reader.cpp, Line 382
Error reading data

this happens after it begins writing the lead in, so it ruins a new dvd every try....

burner

I have uninstalled the drive...changed the drive letter to an "R", uninstalled and reinstalled nero and nothing works. It burns the first 3% and quits. Any other ideas? Or just time for a new one?

So how do I fix/troubleshoot this kind of error? Also, last night I reinstalled Nero, and it burned 3% of a disk, then said it was complete and stopped. It was doing that before too.

This sounds as though you have not disabled Xp's burning software it will conflict with Nero.
Go to the property page for this Rom and uncheck the" Enable writing to this Drive" checkbox (Exact wording I don't remember,I use W2K, but you will see it.)

Also check the troubleshooting above , in particular check Infotool in Nero For a good ASPI layer .
