    Hi
My DVD-ROM works 1/10 times, I have hade my PC for 2 years now and I haven’t used my DVD. However recently I decided to buck up my DVD collection but my DVD drive thinks otherwise.
As I said it works once in a blue moon, and when it doesn’t work the light keeps flashing and I can’t do anything to the drive (i.e. I can’t open/eject it unless I reboot the system or log off).

    My System

    Windows XP Service Pack 2
    AMD 2200+
    1.79 GHz
    480 MB of RAM
    GeForce2 MX400 64 MB
    Drive: DVD-16X OEM316B

If u can help or have any info about my drive it would be great.

    Thx

Well from a Google search for 'DVD-16X OEM316B', this Link gave me the name BDV316B which I did another Google search that gave me a Neoseeker link to a reivew of several DVD drives at CDR-Info. You don't have much choice in what to do if it's bad. You'll need to replace the DVD drive. You can buy any brand you like. When you install the new drive make sure you set the master/slave jumper correctly. ;)
