DVI Cable for connecting Monitor to Comp

Does anyone know if DVI Cable is of any advantage over VGA cable?
Is there a particular trick that switches on the screen? I get black nothing...
Anyone familiar with the issue?

I always go DVI when I can. Once you get used to it things just look kind of dingy on DB15. As far as your black screen problem have you tried just swapping out the DVI cable? Perhaps you have a dual input monitor and just need to switch over to digital input from analog?

I bought a dvi cable for my LCD screen, it isn't really nioticeably different form the vga. It can't be hotswapped, it needs a reboot but once done the screen is automatically selected. Perhaps it depends upon the graphics card.

Vga card is an Asus with DVI and Vga outputs and so is the LG Flatron 782LE LCD screen. I hooked both cables, then disengaged the Vga cable but the screen went black.
:wave: Rebot at this stage? I guess it's worth a try. I'll let U know.
