I have an ATI X850 graphics card and an LCD with a DVI-D as well as D-Sub (currently in use) output and I'm wondering whether there are any advantages with switching to DVI-D and getting rid of the d-Sub->dvi-d converter I currently use?

There could be.. Depends on the quality of DACs in your vid card and the ADCs in your monitor. Also, if you use a very long cable, a digital solution may be better.

As with almost everything else - you are the only judge. Borrow a DVI cable from somewhere and see if there is any visible difference.

Yes, it will look way better with DVI in almost every instance.

Nodsu - we miss you in the channel. :grinthumb
