I suck at Sound. I just bought the Bose Companion 2 speakers, hooked them up, and they seem to have the same problem all non-USB speakers I've ever purchased have: a sort of contained, metallic-hallway sound. My girlfriend's computer has some crappy old speakers that don't have the power or richness of mine, but they sound more open and unconstrained, and they're USB. So I don't know if its the "configuration" (2.0, 5.1, w/e) of which I know nothing, or what, but I'm sick of seeking satisfaction from half-*** commitments and always getting burned. Can someone explain to me what it is I'm looking for so I can finally know whether or not I need to make the necessary expenditure or meet my needs with something more economical? Power and richness are nice, but mostly I don't want my sound to SOUND like its coming from a 3x5x5" box.
