Echoee Sound

Under device manager > Sound, video and game controllers:

I have:

Audio Codecs
C-Media AC97 Audio Device
Legacy Audio Drivers

My question is:

My sound is really echoee and doesnt sound right. Little things like when someone logs onto msn, or when I play counter-strike. It sounds like there is too much treble and it echos. Just wondering is anyone knows how to configure my settings so the sound is normal?

The first thing to try is uninstall all sound drivers from device manager,
then restart computer.

Have done and I then get no sound at all. When I reinstall its the same thing.
