  1. Hey guys, I was wondering if you could help. I have tried a lot of things such as running ad aware, disabling 3rd party extensions, running avg and norton virus scan, but none of them seem to work. I hope you can help. Heres the problem:Every time i open up internet explorer, I get the following message:

Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. It happens every single time, and the only way i can get on the internet is by opening up a folder and typing a website into the address bar. I also ran hijack this... I will reply to this message and give you the log

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

    Close IE.

    Browse to the following location:

    C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

    Delete: index.dat

    Re-open IE.

    If that doesnt work;

Download Internet Explorer 6 SP1 to the root of your C drive:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...cb-5e5d-48f5-b02b-20b602228de6&DisplayLang=en

Once the file (480KB) is download - Close IE

    Go to Start, Run and type;

    c:\ie6setup.exe /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d:1 /s:""#E"

    The IE setup will launch.

You run it this way - because you dont want to have IE open whilst it's installing...

Let us know how you get on

    Some obvious

    First, download http://www.killbox.net/downloads/KillBox.exe

    You have several baddies.

    1. Your hosts file (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) has been corrupted with broadcasts to many sites. Replace with original or one which will discourage adware etc. A good one is http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.txt.

    2. Run HJT again and select the boxes on:
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
    R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {7E4031F1-4A3A-1109-6513-F7E2BD392C25} - C:\WINDOWS\stxjdnqo.dll (file missing)
    O1 - Hosts: 255.255.255.255 ar.atwola.com atdmt.com avp.ch avp.com etc. etc.
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D83DC9EC-78C7-87AB-2038-650193AB148B} - C:\WINDOWS\stxjdnqo.dll (file missing)
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AUNPS2] RUNDLL32 AUNPS2.DLL,_Run@16
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SysTray] c:\Program Files\sbrshx.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PKL[W]VTIUY_YKXJP]`] C:\WINDOWS\system32\xprpzwxpsej.exe
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [shell] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00001.exe"
    O4 - Global Startup: hpoddt01.exe.lnk = ?
    O16 - DPF: {30528230-99f7-4bb4-88d8-fa1d4f56a2ab} (YInstStarter Class) - C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Common\yinsthelper.dll
    O16 - DPF: {406B5949-7190-4245-91A9-30A17DE16AD0} (Snapfish Activia) - http://photo.walgreens.com/WalgreensActivia.cab
    O16 - DPF: {4208FB4D-4E53-4F5A-BF7A-3E047DDB5281} (ActiveX Control) - http://www.icannnews.com/app/ST/ActiveX.ocx
    O16 - DPF: {5F3B3060-09E0-44C6-86F7-BC7B02B57BEE} (Installer Class) - http://downloads.shopathomeselect.c...l_mamma1004.cab
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: mmxeroxk - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mmxeroxk.dll
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: WebCheck - C:\WINDOWS\system32\qvdit.dll (file missing)
    ...then click "Fix Checked"

    3.
Use Killbox.exe to get rid of:

    c:\Program Files\sbrshx.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\xprpzwxpsej.exe
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00001.exe
    C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Common\yinsthelper.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mmxeroxk.dll

    also search for and destroy:
    AUNPS2.DLL
    qvdit.dll
    stxjdnqo.dll

Now if you reboot you should have a like-new machine. If not, repost your HJT log and we'll look again.

    Regards

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

HJT logs should be posted as a .txt attachment.

I have moved this thread to our security and the web forum.

Go HERE and follow the instructions.

Post a fresh HJT log as an attachment into this thread, only after doing the above.

    Regards Howard
