Error in Windows XP home

When booting WIN XP Home,I get an error..Windows cannot find the file C:\windows\system32\lsass.exe .Use search to find the file.

I scanned the PC for viruses and there aren't any.Also this file lsass.exe exists in the system32 folder.

Any fix for this.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Click start/run and type sfc /scannow into the runbox and press the enter key. Windows will now scan for any missing or damaged OS files and replace them as necessary. You will need to have your Windows cd handy.
