So it was time to reformat my computer.
I had XP home and put that back on...however, under other devices is my ethernet controller, multimedia audio controller, and SM Bus controller...all saying that they need drivers. How do I find out what I have and what drivers I need?

    TIA
    Jill

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

You will need to install the drivers from either your computer manufacturers website(Dell/HP/Gateway etc) or your mobo manufacturers website.

If you click on the first link in my signature, you`ll find info on how to find out your systems specs etc.

    Regards Howard

    Thanks for the heads up

this is what I got. Is this enough or should I do the 20 page thing? I think this covers what you mentioned in the post to newbies :)....I don't understand a bit of what this means :(

Is what enough and what 20 page thing are you referring to?

We need your system specs, then we can help you.

Is your computer an oem build such as DEll/HP/Gateway etc, or a custom build?

    Regards Howard :)
