External USB HDD with laptop?

Is there any reason I should not (cannot) use an external USB HDD on a Lenovo laptop? The laptop has an SATA- which doesn't matter, and runs XP Pro. This'll work, right?:suspiciou

If you've got USB and Windows 98 or better - It'll work - unless there's a weird problem.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of weird problems around here.

Yeah, I thought so. It's a new laptop- core2duo- XP Pro- but I seem to have run into said "weirdness" with RAM upgrade- so wanted some friendly words.
