Recap: Emoji have become a staple of modern digital communication, allowing users to convey emotion across a medium that otherwise lacks a human touch. The pictographs have been around for well over two decades but didn't gain mainstream traction until the 2010s when mobile operating systems including Android and iOS added support for them.

Crossword-Solver recently put together an extensive report highlighting the most popular emoji from around the world. The face with tears of joy is the top emoji globally (it is number one in 75 countries) on Twitter followed by the red heart. The face with tears of joy is used nearly 19 percent more often than the second-place red heart.

In countries where the face with tears of joy or red heart isn't number one, that country's flag almost always reigns supreme.

In the US, the most used emoji is again the face with tears of joy. In the above graphic, Crossword-Solver looked at which emoji is used most above the national average in each state. Interestingly enough, the green Wordle-themed emoji finished on top in this category in a handful of states, as did the fire emoji.

Emoji are likely only going to grow in popularity as the world becomes increasingly digitally connected. WhatsApp, the messaging platform owned by Meta, recently rolled out emoji reactions in the latest version of its app and Google's just-released Android 13 beta 2 includes improvements to Emoji Kitchen.

Ha, I only use that one when I want to make a point that something is ridiculous enough to be laughed at.

And the fact that this was enough to make an article... 😂

Alaska, Missouri, Illinois, New York, and Antigua and Barbuda all use the tears streaming face most 😭. Wyoming uses heart eyes most 😍. Laos uses the in love emoji most 🥰. The hands clasped emoji is somewhat notable too, with Idaho, Venezuela, and Nepal using it 🙏. Every other country/state either use a laughing face or some sort of symbol.

Well actually, I want an AR-15 emoji, a Colt 1911 Emoji, I want them to fix the "stocks UP and stocks DOWN emojis with the proper colors (down is red)... I would like more profession emojis, and more modern item emojis as well.

Most of us are the wrong age and get triggered by the use of all these . The basic smiley face is my limit .
If I was dating maybe one of those winking ones

But the tear joy one seems to be mostly used by smug people -I have never taken it at face value - I'm so happy I'm crying - normally it's someone's comment about how the are laughing at someone with tears of joy because how dumb someone is - or that but time is funny

For now, you could just write out "my stocks are fked I'm going to shoot up my place of work" the old fashioned way.

My favorite is "rolleyes". Which I use to emphasize when I'm being sarcastic. Or, when on the offensive, to save myself the trouble of typing out "spare me". .

I want an exploding diarrhea emoji
You could always adopt my Maine coon cat, who suffers from a variety of severe food allergies. Feed him anything other than turkey based product, and take pictures of the "output". Then, use them as a basis for your emoji.
