    Hello and welcome to Techspot!

I'd recommend downloading and installing this program:

    http://www.irfanview.com/

A .gif file is a picture, and ifranview is a free program for viewing (and editing) pictures.

    Cheers!

    P.S.

Another easy fix is to open windows explorer, and right click on the .gif file then select "properties". There is an option there to select which software you want to use to open that type of file. Click on "change" then browse through your programs to select a picture viewer type software like "paint" for example. Good luck!

Or you could associate it with a program such as Internet Explorer. You can view gifs with it.
