Fitting new dvd drive

I have purchased a dvd burner to add to my existing cd-rw/dvd rom drive.
I would like to use the master/slave settings if i do this does the top drive have to be the master and the bottom drive slave or does it not make any difference. Also which which way round is it best to have the drives or is that not important.

i dont think it matters a whole lot, but then also ive read issues that make it sound like the one that you want the better speed out of, should be the master. i personally have never noticed a whole lot of difference.
