Flash Drive extensions showing as .000

I have a 1G flash drive that just recently started showing all information copied to it as 0000.000 I am copying information from my old PC (Win98) to my new laptop (XP).

After the first time (I'd tried to copy a zillion jpegs), when I transfered it to the new machine, all I saw was the string of zeroes. So, I formatted it. (with FAT32). Now it seems that no matter what I am copying (.doc or .jpg), once I put the drive into the new machine, all I get are the zeroes.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Thanks for any help!

Go into admin tools under control panel. Then go into disk management.

Find the letter assigned to your flash drive.

format it. (you will lose all files)

It should work again. If you're still getting zeros written, you may have a faulty flash drive or a bad connection. try an alternate USB port.
