Folders will not open?

Im having problems opening folders. Double click and left click neither will work. Any suggestions?

I know this will sound stupid but have you checked at the start.

1. is your mouse plugged in correctly and working (clean rollers).
2. can you move through windows folders with the keyboard
3. have you reciently installed any software that might affect this.
-try removing any unusual programs

If you run XP try a system restore.
