Hey everyone, i have a computer, Dell Dimension 2400, with Windows XP Home. At the loading screen it just sits there. The loading bar keeps moving but it doesn't do anything. Ive let it go for over a half hour and it just sits there. I'm running diagnostics on it now. Could it be a faulty hard drive? I tried to use windows repair console, but when it anaylizes the hard drive it doesn't do anything. Whats the next step?

Replace the hard drive or see if you can create a bootable floppy with hard drive diagnostics that can be run in DOS before Windows is loaded. The hard drive manufacturers website has such utilities. It may be possible to create a bootable CD if you don't have a floppy

I put it in another comp and check disk, defrag, disk clean up on it and now its fine. It only had 100 mb of free mem. Now it has 23 Gigs. lol

Good job wingnut13,
we never know "who knows how to do what" when it comes to giving advice on a problem... Glad you got this sorted
