Friends cannot connect to my Minecraft server

I've been trying to run a port forwarded minecraft server. i have port forwarded the port "25565" (the minecraft server's port) on a UDP and a TCP protocol. i use the private IPv4 address (192.168.***.***) and i give my friends my external IP address to connect with.

however, when it comes to connecting, they aren't able to get in the server whilst i can =/ I've looked at a port checker and whilst the server was up and it agrees that the port "25565" is open. yet my friends still cannot connect.

I've tried adding new inbound rules on my window's firewall. however i do have Norton 360 which has a firewall of it's own.

if anyone knows anything it'd be really appreciated. thanks.

you have norton firewall and a windows firewall, try turning them both off and see if it works, then turn on each one and see which is the problem.

I bet its norton..

my son runs a a minecraft server and he has no issues on his W7 PC after i set the portforwarding on the home router
