Hi,
I got a custom made PC with USB ports at the front of the comp. They weren't working correctly so I went into the PC to sort it.

I got the top one working correctly, but upon insterting hardware into the bottom USB it just hangs and then crashs.

Can someone give me the order for the wires on the mobo. There are 8, here is the current order.

RED----------------RED
YELLOW------------WHITE
GREEN--------------BLUE
BLACK--------------BLACK

Anyhelp apprciated.
Thanks
Dan

It will really help to know what MoBo you have.
The wires comming from the front panel usb are they just colored or
do they have vcc+ vcc- etc.?

It's a
Asus K8N
The wires are colored as in the diagram above, in that order.

They are colored wires leading to a small black head (which is put over one of the 8 pins).

They do have VCC+ etc.

The top one works, but not the bottom.
Thanks
Dan

How many usb ports are on the front of your system?
if only 2 ports out front:
Looking at the image, you'll see where the usb front ports headers are.
If one set of usb is working and one not, then I think what has happenedis,
all the wires should go on one block: ::::.
color is not that important as plugging in the right
vcc+ vcc- etc. in the right place.
It makes it much harder when the wires are loose and are not labeled the same
as the pic below but you do have one working so try to repeating that on same block.
