Ok this has really got me stumped. I play games via Steam and I use an XBox360 game controller (wireless) with a (non Microsoft adapter). I played a few weeks ago and it was fine. There have been some Windows 10 updates since. Now I can't get the controller to respond at all. Tried everything updated all the drivers uninstalled and reinstalled. Tried on 3 different laptops. Bought a wired controller and that has the same issue. I just tried to calibrate it but still didn't help. Running out of ideas - any advice at all?

The adapter went out or the drivers are having issues with the receiver. look on youtube on how to re install the authentic drivers to get the receiver to work. I had this same issue with a receiver I bought on ebay.
