Gamers enraged at Ubisoft for injecting ads into the middle of video games

I know adverts fund websites etc but if I pay the guts of 100 euro for a game I don't expect ads. As it is any page one opens these days is just full of **** adverts for products I have no interest in which take up 50% plus of the screen. Its got out of hand. Can anybody explain why after buying a product online I am then inundated with adverts for similar or the same product. Sounds like Google scamming their corporate advertisers🤔

Ads in the middle of youtube videos are already destroying that service. People hate it with a passion! So then you gotta pay $15 not to watch ads? So buying a $60-$80 game and having to watch ads in middle of it isn't gonna fly. People will just stop buying Ubisoft products and anyone else that does this. The Game compania are getting Greedy! Whoever came up with this idea should be fired on the spot!

It's like subscribing to involuntary suppository meds.
That is the best metaphor I've read. It sums up what ubislack have done so well, it's like reading a fact,.

I haven't touched ubi for 8 years due to a very bad incident (their end). I was furious and officially closed my account. That means all trace of anything bought, name the lot is wiped. (They say.) When they finally accepted my request, the final email to confirm they are deleting everything summed it up.

It looked like it had been written by spoiled child - that's not a metaphor,. I detest that disgusting "company."

Infinite growth is required for corporations which is literally impossible as the number of consumers is finite.

They try to find a workaround by using methods like these (ads), cutting development costs, cutting QA, creating more paid DLC etc.

These companies eventually fail or get absorbed by a bigger corporation who hawks their IPs, manpower is mostly disposed off by the new owners and gradually the IPs become hated and die due to poor adaptations.

Point is these greedy companies die not with a bang but with a whimper.
Ubisoft was founded in 1986. The world population back then was just slightly shy of 5 billion. The current world population is slightly above 8 billion. That's about a 3 billion increase in people over 37 years which is a rate of 81 million people per year and growing. The world population has different hardware ownership as well. So not only is the population about 67% more dense they now have a sometimes more than 1 computer per person ( or game capable devices) . Compare that to the 1986 when mostly wealthy or middle class had capable funds to buy a console or computer and 1 unit for the whole family. The problem is that these cronies don't want ro rely on this passive growth. They want to monopolies and saturate their previous investments for the maximum return on investment. If the corporations are buying each other out into one big corporation cough microsoft cough, then this is inevitably the foreshadowing of what's to come unfortunately. Micro transactions will become nano transactions and as we can see here paid content will be now filled with unwanted ads. Without competition we can only whine until they take away that too. 😌
Even after all the writing on the wall,.some still have a hard on for net neutrality ( centralized control over the whining part).

I can't feel sorry for people who still haven't learned not to buy products from companies who do stupid **** like this. They've been fooled a million times nd they still keep getting fooled. Animals are smarter than these gamers I swear.

I have tended to want to blame the companies totally for this, but your post is straight to the point so my previous tendency was off the mark.

Ubi still disgusts me as much as ever, but simply put, it is time for more of us to stop using these awful companies.

After all, we are the ones who continue to fund this awful XXXX. So that lets companies such as Ubi continue to take advantage, and they will until actual sales revenue drops.

A lot of gamers are disgusted and really annoyed by this kind of thing and are vocal about it.
That's good.

But how many people follow through by boycotting the worst offenders?
ubisoft keep doing it and dont' seem to care. But they care about money/revenue and a healthy balance sheet.

I need not write the obvious conclusion.
