I had aGeForce 2 mx 400 video card, but I replaced it with a GeForce 4 ti 4200. I am running XP home edition.

When I plugged in the new card and updated to the current driver on the nvidia site, I rebooted my computer, but when XP loads, I get a bad picture, just a bunch of colored squares all shaking and chaotic.

So I power off, restart and choose last known good configuration. XP loads, but none of my games will run and in device manager it shows my video card with a !

I tried to update it, it does the same thing.

    Anyone familiar with this problem?

bump? anyone know what I can do?

I kept trying to get this to work right, no luck. Anytime I install the driver from nvidia and I reboot I do not get a clear picture, just a scrambled screen. I even tried an older driver. Help pleeeeease.

First off, have you verified that the new card's ok in the first place?
Maybe you can put the old card back in and delete the drivers and then reinstall the new card?

PS I like the 43.45 drivers for gf4ti cards, they roxor.
