Here is a strange problem I ran into today. I was loading someone's system with a ghost image and the CD didn't boot to the image.

I checked the bios to ensure the CD would access first.

I used a boot disk and ran dir on the CDROM/ CD0001 is not ready

I log in into windows and attempt to look at the CD, Its not recognized.

I just finished loading two other systems about ten minutes prior without this problem.

I insert another CD in the CDROM, reboot and it loads from the image. Just not the one I need to use.

I go to another system and the CD in question works fine from bootup.

What the hell, over?

is it the same PC (or similar spec'd pc) that you've made the image from?

There are some backup programs that sometimes lock to a certain hardware config as both security and compatibility thing.. but i'm not certain if Ghost does this or not..

try using the same CD drive that works and pluging it into that one.. just a guess..

Yes, probably just this drive doesn't like this (brand of) CD. Look for a firmware update.

Firmware is a possible solution. But I think I might have figured it out.
I will have to check and see. I believe the drive is CD/DVD combo but if its just a CD ROM then I figured out the issue

I did something I always tell myself not to, assume.

All the other systems have CD/DVD combo drives. This is the only that has a damn CD burner. What a bunch of crap.
