Perception has become everything and Google will fall flat on it's face.

There is more to computing than Facebook and other web based BS "services".

I kinda agree that Windows plays catch up alot. However, I see it more on a superficial "fluff" kinda way. How the buttons are presented, the look and feel of the OS, that kinda thing.

As far as the stuff nobody can see, such as RAM management, file management, security, etc, I have no comment.

(cough) I'm mostly a windows guy but seriously, I get tired of this playing catchup with mac all the time and constantly fixing my friends Windows machines (another 2 coming by today). I do have to fix my friends macs too sometimes but the problems are usually so minor in comparison. It's not like Windows is cheap either - the full mcoy (Ultimate) is 3 - 4 X the purchase price of OSX. And all that copy protection BS just sucks too. Just seems like Windows = pain for many - sure they save bucks on the cheaper hardware but I have to question if it is worth the downtime and headaches for the average user?.

What everybody fails to consider is this; M$ is not a manufacturer of computers, and charges for its OS software accordingly. The Mac OS will only go into the Mac. Since Mac price to performance is typically poor when compared to a given PC, you have to think that the Mac OS price has been offset by overcharging for the hardware in the first place. Face it, if everybody that runs a Mac thinks they're getting a great deal on the newest OS, they'll continue to buy the overpriced hardware, now won't they?

The truly scary part is, while you simply don't bother to decipher what they say, the're literally incapable of of deciphering it. And yet, they're the ones who've written it.

When will you jump on the captaincranky bandwagon, and just insult them for saying it, without any attempt being made to decipher, decode, or throw federal money at the problem? Oh sure, that's a bit harsh, but really, why try to do something, if failure is a foregone conclusion
