Google takes aim at Apple with Pixel, its first post-Nexus era smartphone

You do realize all the other water resistant smart phones out there have headphone jacks, right? So that has nothing to do with it...
My Samsung has the jack, but it is different design than the Apple jack that used to be there, instead of incorporating a higher quality jack that had water resistance, they just opted to remove it completely to save time and most of all MONEY.
That's the point I was making that you apparently missed.

Ppfftt My sub $200.00 ~ 5.25" ZTE Android smartphone does anything I need of a mobile outside of my Core i7 Windows 10 HP Elitebook and Sony Handycam, a $500.00-$1000 smart phone just isn't in my wheelhouse and I'm on my Windows 10 Haswell Core i5/SSD desktop w/ 27" monitor now with a decent mechanical KB and not using my thumbs on a small screen ☺

Good luck getting the Apple cult fan people to buy something else without Apple fruit on the brand logo and keeping the new Samsungs from flaming like a Tesla or an old Ford Pinto or depreciating like a PC or an old Pinto ☺

I did miss your point. But how is removing the headphone jack saving people money?
