  1. Hi, :)

    My system is

    Windows 98 SE
    Pentium IV 2.4 Ghz
    512mb DDR Ram
    Asus V9520 GeForce FX 5200 128mb 3D Card
    17GB Hard Disk
    40GB Slave Hard Disk
    Intel D845GEBV2 Motherboard
On-board audio card ( SoundMax Digital Audio )

My motherboard has 6x 32-bit PCI slots, PCI 2.2 compliant
    (support 3.3v / 5v interface).

I need help buying a budget PCI sound card, I need the sound card for gaming only. I cannot use the on-board audio for gaming since Intel did not provide a game port and no there is not surround audio.

    Thank you

If you could strech your budget up to $45, you can get a 7.1 Hercules Fortissimo 3 with game port. You will be suprised that the extra 12 bux is worth it.

Yeah I'd go with the Fortissimo 3 over the Live! as well. Might also want to look around for an OEM Audigy 2 of course.
