Just thought i would put my 2 cents worth in :)

Stick with the advise from LookinAround. I thought i had lost all my files but i did manage to recover most of them.

If you need any help from me then please just ask but LookinAround is THE man who can sort this for you.

    HI shaunholmes

Thanks for the personal endorsement. :) I hope your computer continues to work OK

btw... i'm glad you posted again as there's one topic i wanted to follow up with...

Now that your computer is back up and running.. i wanted to highlight some info regarding backups and backup tools

    > See this post for a brief discussion on understanding difference between file/folder type backups vs "disk cloning" backups
    > You can periodically clone your hard drive (and save the clone backup to USB hard drive) using freeware EASUS Disk Copy tool
    > Cloning saves you the chore of reinstalling programs if you need to reformat as you can simply recover the entire drive image at once
    > Also, there's paid software that supports cloning as well as giving you file/folder backup ability. I use Acronis True Image (USD $50)

In any case, just more stuff to consider. And Happy Computing! :)

    Hiya Mate

Thanks for the advise, i'm on it !!

And as far as the personel endorsment goes, i mean it!!, you thoroughly deserve it! you spent alot of time and effort on my problem and there's not alot of people who would do that. Your'e a total legend!!

I think i'm going to replace the internal hard drive anyway, but of course you are right, if there is one thing i have learned it's to BACK UP!!

Honoured to be your friend LookinAround, contact me anytime for a chat and a coffee.

Take care mate and hope we talk soon.
