Help please!

alright so the past couple of days my power supply was making a weird static sound, It got me really concerned i wasn't really sure what i was supposed to to about it. So on wednesday the power supply just completely died on me, I can't turn on my computer at all , so I was wondering what kind of power supply should I buy because I'm new at this am i suppose to get the 200,300, or 400 watts? Does it matter how much watts? Thanks in advance.

What spec was your old PSU ? What ever it is,add at least 50W for the new one.
If your planning any more upgrades add even more Watts.Bigger is better.

thanks for the replies, um my previous psu model was from bestec. the model number is : ATX-250-12E REV: P7

so according to the model number, the psu is 250 watts right?
