I am upgrading/building a new pc using ECS KM400-M2 Motherboard and XP 2800+ CPU. The pc can be started up however it would be shut down by itself randomly with in 1 second to 10 minutes.

A posting below metioned a similar problem but I can't figure out any solutions from the responses, which suggested that the reason could be something with the power unit.

My questions are:
1. I am using an ATX case. Is that a problem? because there is not a case fan on it?
2. The cpu frequency is set to 133M Hz, should I change it?
3. Should I do anything to the memory? I just plug the memory into the slot. The memory is DDR 333Mhz.
4. Any other ideas?

pls pls help!

Happy New Year!

Do you know what power supply the machine has? (brand, wattage, amperage per voltage rail) Sometimes if the powersupply is underpowered, or if your psu has malfunctioned, the pc will just reboot randomly.

Or it could be overheating as, do you have any way to monitor your cpu temperature?
