I have the HP PAVILLION dv6226tx laptop and the max compatible RAM is 2gb, althought my frnd having the same laptop is uding 4gb RAM in the laptop.

Can the experts pls help me regarding this issue. I also want to upgrade my RAM to 4gb.

THANKS A LOT

Are you sure your friend has exactly the same laptop? Did he buy it with 4GB of RAM or upgrade later on?

You could first try taking the RAM from the friend's machine and putting it in yours. If it works, just get the same type RAM as your friend has.

good advice @Nodsu

@aadilprabhakar - can you tell us which os you are running? 4 gb of ram don't always make sense. if you run a windows xp it wouldn't use all of the 4gb even though it can manage 4gb. so unless you run a 64 bit os I recommend to save the money...

my two cents

I am using Vista and i am into animation and video editing. Vista eats up most of the RAM so i was considering the upgrade
