Help the novice PLEASE hooking up wi-fi

I just bought a Dell Inspron 9300 and going to hook up a wireless system using the Netgear WGT624 router. It says to hook up the router to the PC. I just have the notebook that I want connected. Do I hook up the modem top the router and then the router to the notebook ??

Suggestion.. establish a connection from your laptop to the router. then work on getting your internet established.

You connection needs to look like this


[HIGH SPEED MODEM]

wired -> / \ <- wireless
/ ~
/ \
[DESKTOP] [LAPTOP]

That is the physical connection.
