Help with HP Compaq NX7400 hard drive

Hello everyone. I have a Hp NX7400 . I went to circuit city and i saw
"western digital Notebook Hard Drive WD scorpio 2.5 Inch 8mb 160gb sata" . Would This work in my HP NX7400 . I took the hard drive out of my NX7400 and it says
HITACHI
Model: HTS541680J95A00 5400 RPM
5V 700MA DC SATA

REV: 5.00 SPS:413852-0011
HDD 80GB

Hi,

Providing the WD Scorpio is no taller than your current drive (highly unlikely), I think it will be fine.

Sata is the connector type, that's the same.
2.5" is the width of the drive, same.
The height is the other factor to consider (usually less than 10.5mm, 9.5mm is common), I don't think I've seen a new laptop hdd in the last few years that is taller. Physical measurements should be on the outer packaging if you need to check.

If the price is right, buy it

You should be a professional once you do this one as well
1 to learn how to find the hard drive and replace it
Next 1 and you're now an experienced Hard Drive replacer

I DONT KNOW about a pro yet , The ne4400 doesnt work at all , im on my wifes nx7400 now and i rather have my own . Since you told me it wouldnt fit in the Ne4400 IM gonna try her laptop the nx7400 .
when I Put the new hard drive will i have to do anything else????

No, that's it just put it in.

Obviously use a Windows Setup CD to install Windows if you want that installed
