Help with winxp on 2nd ide hard drive

I had the ide hard drive on a comp that i somehow really messed up
and i was wondering if i reformat & reinstall windows xp will it fix it?
also im preety sure i cant do a disc boot cause i have an external hardrive please soeone help i am really in quite a pickle folks

It is from a computer.

You want to reformat and reinstall XP.

That I understand.

THEN, you start taliking about some external hard drive - ???


What make and model of computer do you have?

Do you have the XP install disk AND the manufacturer support disk?

Do you have a floppy drive AND/or a cd/dvd drive IN the computer?
