  1. I have just recieved this warning and thought i'd pass it on to you all.

    HISTORY CLEANER
More people are turning to Internet browser history cleaners to expunge sensitive materials from their various browsers and this application is a no-cost addition to the wide variety available. Free History Cleaner permanently erases a browser's cache files, cleans the Windows temporary folder, and empties the recycle bin. It is easily integrated with Internet Explorer and each separate function can be toggled on and off. Compatible with all systems running Windows 95 and higher.

Please do not install or use the software before reading the following:

We have learned today that the latest version of Free History Cleaner can install SpyWare and Adware and that the software itself may be difficult to uninstall.

The full story, and a guide to the uninstall procedure if you need it, can be seen here:

The biggest question here is "why install an application to do what three little clicks of a mouse could do anyway"? Why have an application when all a User has to do is click on History, Temp Internet Files and Cookies, done in under two seconds? Please correct me if I have missed something here. Thanks.

Perhaps it writes over them several times like Norton's WipeInfo to make them less easily recovered than a simple 1 pass like Windows does.
