HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4083B problems

My HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GWA-4083B suddenly stopped being able to read dvds or cds. I have tried everything I could think of to fix this but so far nothing has worked. Please help!

Same problem

Hopefully someone will see these occurences and have the savvy to make suggestions for reparations. My drive can read but when I attempt to burn a powerpoint presentation it tells me that it has no cd to write on in the drive when I have placed one in there and have tried multiple variations of cd and dvd.
