Hi: I just bought my first router for home and it works fine, allows me to access the internet on my laptop. I would like to be able to print from the laptop to the printer which is hooked up to my desktop but don't know how . The printer is a basic Lexmark which only has a usb connection so I can't hook it up to the router. I aked at Bestbuy and the techie there told me I have to buy a print server which is over $100. I searched on-line and all the sites say you simply set your main computer up for print sharing and then find the printer on your laptop.
The only printers I can find on my laptop are the ones that are set up at work.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks, Dave

you will have to designate one of your computers as a printer server. It will have to be on all the time. I'm not a networker, but I do know it's not hard to do. I've seen people do it at work.

when you print, you'll have to designate where to print to.
