HP dv6000, operating system not found

I have an hp dv6000 and one day it was working jus fine then the next day it said Operating system not found i didnt own a vista disk but i do have a windows 7 disk; so i erased vista and tried to install windows 7 and see if it will work but everytime i try to install it its says "cannot install to this partition" even after i format my drive and erase all old partitions it still says the same thing

Install another hard drive and retry the installation

Do you have any USB drives plugged in? Windows 7 has issues installing if you have USB drives plugged in.
