I have a problem with explorer.exe.

Inadverdenrly wiped out the startup in mscongig. Am told that it probably casue the exporer.exe file to be missing so now when I boot, there is a white screen and all I can do is press alt ctrl del to go ino tasl manager. Have done it without any luck, Can't get into safe mode. But have the winxp install disk from Dell and can only reinstall winxp. Would this wipe out all my documents and programs? What is the best way iof dealing with this. Am a new guy with limited skills,

when you get into task manager, click on New Task then type explorer.exe

Otherwise, if you can get your hands on a winxp cd with the version of windows you're running then you can run a windows repair.

yes. Backup your data using a live OS cd or slave it to another PC before using the cd that came with your dell.
