Tommorow is black friday and im going to buy a new motherboard for my PC. I know that i have to do a clean install of windows xp (meaning i loose all of my data right?), so i was thinking of buying a new hard drive. My question is, i have alot of programs in my old hard drive (the one i'll be using as a slave), will i be able to use them? For example, I have the latest mcaffee, will i have to reinstall that in my new HD so that it can protect my computer? or will everythin be fine the way they are?

Will it be ok for me to buy an external HD and use that as a master?
Would you reccomend it?

What do you recommend me doing? I.e buy a new hd, clean install, etc.

ps. HAPPY THANKS GIVING GUYS

When you reinstall windows you dont lose any files because they are saved up in your HD... so if you use the old as a slave and use a better one for master then you can just file transfer them to each other,

Also... I personaly think Mcaffee sucks =P

do remember that there is a difference between reinstall and repair.. for having new hardware, a repair would usually work, in the rare case that you have to clean install the whole thing...
