I've had an IBM Laptop for around 2 years. Occasionally, especially when I disconect the power supply during standby, it has a power read problem. Every 10-15 seconds the screen changes brightness rapidly and the power icon in the taskbar changes from battery to connected. Has anyone else had this problem. It seems to go away after a few days, but is very frusterating. Thanks.

Which IBM laptop do you have just in case we know of some issues with certain models.

When you say occasionally do you mean ever since you bought the laptop or just recently.

    thanks for replying

It has been happening since I bought the laptop. I did buy it refurbished. It is an IBM R31. Here are the specs.

    733MHz Pentium III.
    364MB Ram.
    64MB Intel Integrated Video.
    40GB Hard Drive.
    CD-RW/DVD.

    Hope you can help.

Do you have the latest BIOS update? I remember doing several BIOS updates to X31 and T42 fixing standby issues.
