IBM suspends advertising on X after its ads appear next to pro-Nazi content

A hot potato: IBM has suspended its advertising on former Twitter platform X after a report said one of its ads appeared next to posts that promoted Hitler and the Nazi party. Ads for Apple, TV network Bravo, Oracle, and Xfinity were also placed next to similar content.

A report from nonprofit watchdog group Media Matters highlighted how adverts from the massive tech brands had appeared on X next to content such as memes and posts that tout Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party.

Comcast, owner of the Xfinity and Bravo brands whose ads also appeared next to the highlighted content, told the Financial Times that it was looking into the situation. Apple and Oracle have yet to comment.

X said that the identified posts will no longer be monetized and be labelled as "Sensitive content," requiring users to acknowledge a warning before viewing them. It said the post next to the IBM ad was "only" seen 8,000 times.

X said in an email to NBC News that Media Matters' investigation was flawed, partly because ads are designed to follow users as they browse the site, so the researcher saw the same ads multiple times in ways others might not.

X CEO Linda Yaccarino has been trying to convince advertisers that the platform is safe for their businesses. Following news of IBM suspending its ads, Yaccarino posted that X is committed to combating antisemitism, but this latest incident isn't going to help convince companies.

Back in June, it was reported that Twitter's ad sales were down 59%, likely due to the increasing amount of hate speech and pornography on the platform.

The mass culling of employees implemented by Elon Musk when he took over Twitter included large portions of the safety and moderation teams. The billionaire has also been allowing previously banned accounts back onto the platform.

Musk is no stranger to delivering controversial content himself. The billionaire is currently facing backlash after posting a positive reply to a message arguing that Jewish communities push hatred against whites. "You have said the actual truth," Musk replied. The billionaire later said his comments referred not to all Jewish people but to groups like the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), who he threatened to sue earlier this year, and other unspecified "Jewish communities."

IMO, every time Musk opens his mouth or pens a Xweet, giant turds emerge. People listen to him because Billions?? 🤣 He's really giving those people who listen to him a splattering from the fan after he's flung his turds at it and a golden shower, too.

Yet another case where Musk dirves "X" further down the toilet. That's really hard to do when it was so far down the toilet even before The King of Mars attacked the platform. Its all freedom of speech for him - but be careful if you use the platform and say anything against the King of Mars, your freedom of speech will be vanquished.

Way to go IBM! Resist the evil Twit Narcissist!

So, let me guess, either A) this "neo-nazi" is one of the 67% of earth that is deemed a "nazi" for not accepting "Current Thing", or B) IBM found one scizo going on a rant, and is using him to say "ZOMG the not-sees!!11!" to demand twitter make changes (read: lower ad rates to lower costs for IBM).

We see this ALL THE TIME. On three separate occasions Disney has announced they would stop showing ads on YouTube because of "extremists" or "grooming actors", yet they are still showing ads for The Marvels on youtube, alongside that very same content. Every winter we go though this with some website, its a negotiating tactic at this point.

As for the tweet: its true. Hate it all you want, but maybe inviting tens of millions of people from countries that dislike jews into the west is a BAD idea. Or course, that would get you called a nazi, unless you are on the Right Side of Herstory, in which case you're actually fighting antisemitism now! The Golem has turned on it's Master, and I've got the popcorn ready! Expecting sympathy from groups you have spent the last two decades alienating and vilifying to anyone who listens is laughable. Regardless of the outcome of the latest rumble in the jungle sandpit, the classic media narratives dont work when your population refuses to turn to cowardice in the face of public opinion, and we've spent the last 50 years ensuring that out populations are FULL of people who dont bend the knee to anyone. Congratulations, you played yourself.

Lemon Mux knows very well that banning all hateful speech / fake posters / bots / obvious state propaganda / porn ladies etc would reduce his lousy investment to a few thousand accounts. Verified or not.

What's the saying, "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it"?

We should be studying the Weimar Republic and doing all we can to prevent replicating it, because we sure as hell don't want what came after it.

IBM pitches a fit about some wingnut on Xwitter, yet still subsidizes Weimar-friendly content and causes.

Actually the term Nazi was used in reference to a tweet that said Nazism was a spiritual awakening. It's right there in the article.

Maybe the term Nazi is used so much because of people like you who rush to defend deplorable content.

More like a demonic awakening; like Communism.

So it was option B then. They found an edgy boi on twitter. That's not even the worst thing posted online in the last 5 minutes, but like I said, this is a nothing burger used to push for lower ad rates and other controlling BS these companies want.

Or maybe it's overused by internet snowflakes that cant tolerate anyone or anything they dont 100% agree with, to the point that "nazi", "Racist", and every "-phone" and "-ism" has lost all meaning.

You sound like Fox News propaganda talking points. Everything is always someone else's fault, never yours. You can say and do anything you like and if someone disagrees with you then they're snowflakes.

That seems to be the best way that some, in this current time, have of deflecting the attention from the fact that they are doing the very same thing themselves. Blame everyone else for what you are doing, and expect everyone else to accept the blame and not see through the ruse. Taking responsibility for one's actions is something that the stable geniuses of the world seem to not think is the best course of action.

One day, much to their surprise, they might wake up and realize that they are looking at themselves in the mirror of humanity.

In general the only people who don’t know the meaning of “racist” and “Nazi,” seem to be the people whose views align with racists and nazis. Funny how that works.

It’s almost like extremism is working as intended.

Those same people call others snowflakes while being outraged at any dissenting opinion, and deflect any real conversation with terms like “liberal” and “woke” and then refuse to define what those terms mean.

What are you rambling about, dude ? Just say you hate the guy, nobody cares.

He did not say what most pseudo newspapers accuse him off. I have read the thing in discussion myself. We do not have holy cows we are not allowed to discuss in USA, especially if they do something that helps evil.
