    Hey gang,

I have often noticed this and then it goes away. Let say I go to a web page and save it to my favorites, then when I look in my favorites it has an icon next to it not just the IE "E" icon. Then in a few days or so, they disappear, and all I have is the "E" icon. Any ideas ?? I would like to have the custom ones web pages have ? Thanks a mil !

    Hi,
The custom icons are called favicons (extension .ico) and you can read about them here, for example.

Anyway, they are stored in your Temporary Internet Files-folder, so they get deleted when you empty that and/or when it grows bigger than allowed.

Here's a solution taken from Iconarchive's FAQ linked above:

    "1. Create a local directory (IE c:\favicons)
    2. Copy the desired favicon into the directory created above.
    3. Right click the mouse over the favorite/bookmark and select properties.
    4. Enter the path (or use the 'browse' feature) to the favicon you want for that bookmark.

Another temporary solution is to hold down the mouse button while holding shift over the default IE icon in the address bar and then let go of the mouse button anywhere in the address bar. This seems to 'update' the favicon."
