IE and Explorer Problems

Hey TechSpot,

I have a dilemma and I need some help!

Whenever I open up Internet Explorer or Explorer always get the pop up

"The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program Click on CANCEL to debug the program"

If I press OK or Cancel the same popup will still come up 5 more times until it just stop. The whole time, IE or Explorer just flash then dissapear. I'm running Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Inspiron 6000. Any ideas why this is happening or what I could do to fix this?

My first best guess is that you might very well be infected. Go to the Virus and Malware forums and follow the 8 Step instructions found in the stickies.

We need to know your hardware configuration. Is it a stock Inspiron 6000? If so, how much memory does it have... and are the two modules the same brand and frequency?
I will second the guess of Route44, but you could also have a defective memory module. To rule out that possibility, download and run MemTest86 for 4 hours or seven passes
