As I type this, I'm still using my HT Omega Claro Halo (overkill gift from a year ago). For a headset I use a Sennheiser PC 360, so its microphone is at least average.
Going to be adding a 2nd 970 very soon. In order to use PCIe #2, I can't use the PCI slot. I tried out my onboard for the first time (Realtek ALC898), and as I expected everyone says I "sound like ****" compared to the dedicated.
Would a USB card, even dirt cheap, likely improve voice quality (or maybe $50-60 range)? When it comes to codecs server-side on my server, I already use Opus Voice at the highest bandwidth setting, so I can't improve anything there.
