Compairing a Chromebook with a MacBook Pro is like compairing water with wine

You are partially right - wine and apple products are not necessary and often overpriced luxuries.
However that is extremely high praise for a chromebook - but curb your hyperbole - Chrome also is not a necessity like water.

Extremely high praise where? I have not ever used a Chromebook and had a good experience. Entry level budget PC's with trashy keyboard, touchpad and screen. Slow and lacks native apps.

Everyone knew what you meant - I was just messing - sorry - bad analogy chromebook to imac - water to wine . - Water is not only the universal solvent - it's nearly universal to most lifeform's - it not all . So water is > than wine
Maybe Toyota to Lexus - that's no good as Toyotas can do lots of things.
Maybe Jetski to Jetboats - as Jetboats more features , comfortable , and can carry more people/stuff .
Back to my original point when you inferred imacs were perfect for most people - it was an overreach - as maybe a chromebook is enough and cheaper . Or more appropriate as less valuable to throw in locker or car etc .
If I take a narrow view in the apple lineup - maybe your intended meaning - then yes the Imac is all most apple users need - Maybe that was your point.
I took it to mean general public - for half the world the imac brand new is unaffordable- when more pressing uses for their money

Cheap android phones are also cheap, however they are cheap for a reason, same with Chomebooks unless they are "high-end" Chromebooks maybe, I have yet to see one tho.

I will never understand why some people buy entry level stuff and hates using the device from day one to the end. Cheap devices usually don't age well either. From slow to ultra slow. Don't get support at all from the company either. 6 months to 12 months if you are lucky is what you see on cheap android phones.

Buying a mid-end device from the start is always better than buying entry level trash and replace it more often, which you will.

If you don't have the money for quality, you have to settle yeah, I personally would never buy anything cheap - I would rather wait and save for a mid-end solution then.

I find it interesting that Intel's latest 10 core, 20 thread CPU when overclocked can just get ahead of Apple's M1 Max with only 8 normal cores and 8 threads (plus it's 2 low power cores). That really doesn't bode well for Intel at all.

It depends on workload. Apple M1 is good in some workloads but fall flat in others - That is ARM in a nutshell.

However Apple M1 is great for 99% of consumers, which is why it's a succes
