Intel E8400, AOS heat sink compound?

Hello all,

I got everything ready for my build but forget one thing. I ordered an intel e8400 and thought it would come with the thermal compound but it didn't. I found an old tube of thermal compound labeled "AOS heat sink compound/300" Do you think I can use this on my intel e8400? is it a good one brand or bad one?

If it can be spread very thinly, and still maintain a good contact, it is good enough. Check it in a few months to be sure it has not evaporated out to make it dry and stiff.
This will give you plenty of time to get the thermal paste you prefer.
Just keep it as thin as possible, while maintaining contact, as some old stuff becomes too thick and actually acts as if it is an insulator.
