Whenever I click on my IE icon it comes up in a dos prompt. I can not tell you what I did or when I did it. Has anyone ever come across this and if so what was your solution. Any help would be great.
    Thanks

Are you using Internet Explorer 6.1, or IE 7.0?
If you have Internet Explorer 7.0 installed as an upgrade, go to Control Panel -> add and remove programs -> and remove the install. Reboot.
See how things are in IE 6.0. If things are good, download and reinstall IE 7.0 if you really need it... otherwise, stay with IE 6.0

Try these in the following order

    1) Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Browsing History Delete -> Delete All -> Delete files and settings for add-ons -> OK

This will flush your caches with your add-ons

    2) Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (no add-ons)

If that works, then try removing some of your add-ons

    3) Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore, revert to previous restore point
