Internet monitoring software

I am a newbie so bear with me...... Is there any software that monitors what my computer is doing? at times I will be not making any entries and my hard drive light starts blinking, and my internet connection icon in the toolbar will start blinking. I have no idea what these two are up to, and wonder if I should worry???? I thought there might be some software that might log all internet transactions in the background that I could watch.

well first thing lets look at your current problem, then we can address perventative measures to keep this from happening again.

first thing go to symantec or trend micro and do an online virus scan (sounds like you may have a trojan on your system. Other possibility is MS windows Automatic updates....

After running virus scan go to https://www.techspot.com/vb/topic17297.html and follow directions.

once complete we can discuss preventative measures but get rid of the problem first.
